Things you should do in the last few weeks before the HSC

With HSC exams approaching in just over a month, it is crucial that you stay focused, motivated, and productive every day. Here are some tips and advice:

Create a routine. You should be up and ready to study by at least 9:30 am every morning because your exams will typically start around this time. Each week, you should be doing at least 2 past papers for each subject, and with any past papers you sit, you should do them at the same time as the actual exam.

Study plan. You should all have at least some sort of study plan by now. If you are struggling to keep up with your plan, reflect on why that is the case and fix it! There is no point in creating a plan you’re not going to follow.

Breaks. Make sure you’re taking breaks in between study sessions! The last thing you want to do is burn out the day before an exam which will be detrimental to your performance.

Sleep. Please do not pull all-nighters or stay up ridiculously late studying. Although it may be tempting to lose a couple hours of sleep to study, this can be counterproductive. Make sure you’re getting at least 7 hours of sleep each day as this will boost your focus and productivity.

Lastly, the day before an exam, you should stop studying by 9 pm. If you don’t know something by 9 pm the day before, cramming until late at night is most likely not going to help. To prevent this, make sure to frequently refer to the syllabus to make sure there are no gaps in your knowledge!
