Year 11 English Extension

Build a solid foundation and get ready for the HSC year

Extension English is often poorly supported by schools as it is considered an 'independent research' module, where the student completes more than 80% of the subject at home. Prime makes sure that you are keeping up with your extension work on a weekly basis to ensure you achieve a profound understanding of your topic, and reach your ATAR potential.

Course Component

Prime's Extension English courses focus on the more sophisticated research, essay and creative writing skills required by this subject. In this university style class, we provide Year 11 students with four extension skills booklets to support independent study, as well as weekly handouts, including supplementary literary texts and criticism, tailored to each student's needs.

There will also be opportunities for review, marking and detailed feedback for students' work and assessment tasks including the provision of Preliminary identical exams.

Course Topics

We teach the Year 11 module Texts, Culture, and Value. This is the only module for the preliminary HSC, with individual schools making their own textual and thematic selections. We are able to create content and lesson materials as required to cater to these individual selections and each student's needs.

Students will learn:

How to write and improve essays and other writing forms
NESA expectations for Texts, Culture and Value Syllabus
NESA expectations for Literary Worlds HSC Syllabus
Literary heritage and how to pursue careers in writing

Students will receive:

Help with analysing their school-prescibed texts
Marking and feedback for essay and creative writing
Mentoring, reading suggestions, academic readings
Support for Assessment tasks

EXCELLENT TUTORS!

At Prime, I am doing both English and Maths. Maths is very helpful as I am able to learn topics in advanced on the classes.
